Cartagena Puerto de culturas together with the Museum of the Roman Theatre have prepared a special program for the people who decide to learn about Cartagena on the bank holidays in December (6th and 8th). Visitors will have the option to enjoy the history of the city, through guided tours, accompanied by a guide; they will be dramatized and conducted by a Roman citizen.

Enjoy history in a fun way and by the hand of a character of the era. “We want families to enjoy the bank holidays in our interpretation centres, not only the visitors who take advantage of these dates to visit Cartagena, but also the people of Cartagena who choose to stay in our municipality those days.” The offer is varied and wide, with activities for all the public” said the mayor and president of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas, Ana Belén Castejón.

GUIDED ROUTES

Citizens of an Empire – guided route

The citizens of Rome, inhabitants of Carthago Nova, built theaters, temples, hot springs and houses. The route will explain how a Roman citizen lived when visiting public and private buildings of the ancient Roman city.

Tour: Roman Theater, Barrio del Foro Romano and Casa de la Fortuna. Days: Saturdays 2nd, 7th and 9th December. Hours: 12: 00 h. Departure from the Roman Theater. Price: individual 13€, reduced €1€0, Club Cartagena Port of Cultures 6.50€.

Asclepios, 2,000 years of a hill

Learn the history of Cartagena, from the first Roman settlements dedicated to the God, Asclepios. You will cross the hill where the medieval castle built in the time of Alfonso X the Wise stands, from where you can see the entire city, and where you will be able to see all the different civilisations that came to Cartagena. The route ends in the Roman Theater Museum, an example of the splendour reached in Roman times. Tour: Panoramic Elevator, Castillo de la Concepción and Museo del Teatro Romano. Days: 3rd, 5th and 10th, of December. Time: 12:00 h. Departure from the Panoramic Lift. Price: individual 10€, reduced 8€, Cartagena Club Puerto de Culturas 5€.
THEATRALIZED ROUTE

Temples, goddesses and much play-acting We will live the adventures of a Roman citizen, who will invoke the gods to achieve his dream: act in the splendid Roman Theater of Carthago Nova. Start your journey in the Forum Quarter, reach the Temple of Isis, seeking the protection of the goddess and the Emperor in the Augusteum until you reach the abode of art and Roman shows, the great Theater. Tour: Forum Neighborhood, Augusteum and Roman Theater Museum. Days: Tuesday 6th and Friday 8th December. Time: 12:00h. Exit: Forum Neighborhood. Price: individual 13€, reduced 10 euros, Club Cartagena Port of Cultures 6’50€.
