Night of Museums 2019 – Cartagena

The International Museum Day is celebrated worldwide since 1977. The long night of museums was born, under that name, in the city of Berlin that same year. Since then, many other European cities join this initiative promoted by the Council of Europe joining the commemorative events of ICOM (International Council of Museums) within the International Museum Day.

Preferably, it is celebrated around the International Museum Day according to the own traditions and conditions of each country and in the same spirit that motivates it.

This year on the night of May 18th, museums from all over Europe will open their doors and illuminate the cultural panorama of our old continent.

The event will offer museums and their professionals the opportunity to approach the public and society and make them aware of the changes that museums are developing since they are – as ICOM’s definition of what the Museum is – “an institution at the service of society and its development “.

That is why this XI Edition of this great cultural event Cartagena and visitors can enjoy, once again, a wide range of culture and leisure, complementary to the temporary and permanent exhibitions of museums.
